Melanie Yutong Liu

Melanie Yutong Liu is a 17-year-old pianist who currently studies with Alice Xu at the New England Conservatory Prep. Her competition accolades include first prizes at the 9th Annual Rome International Music Competition, the UK International Competition, the Pacific International Piano Competition, the American Virtuoso International Music Competition, and the Chopin Foundation of the United States (NW Council). She was also a selected participant in the 2023 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival.

Since her orchestral debut with the Bellevue Symphony performing Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 at age 13, Melanie has performed Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Eastside Symphony, Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Mukilteo Orchestra, and Chopin’s Concerto No. 1 with members of the Seattle Symphony. Her performances and achievements have earned recognition in music publications, including The Boston Musical Intelligencer. Previously, she studied under Dr. Sasha Starcevich and Allan Park.
